The revised National Planning Policy Framework (NPPF) was published on 24 July. It sets out the government’s planning policies for England and how these are expected to be applied. This revised Framework replaces the previous National Planning Policy Framework published in March 2012.

The new NPPF can be downloaded from the gov.uk website. An online searchable version will be available shortly. The planning practice guidance to support the NPPF is also available online.

The Campaign To Protect Rural England (CPRE) has criticised the NPPF, describing it as a ‘speculative developers’ charter’, arguing that it favours the delivery of any development rather than development that meets communities’ needs, respects the environment, and adheres to policies in the NPPF other than those which deal with housing delivery.
