We work across Berkshire to support stronger, healthier and more resilient communities. Through our projects and services, we help people improve their wellbeing, access affordable housing, reduce fuel poverty, and make the most of the community spaces and services that bring people together.
Our Rural Affordable Housing Service supports communities to identify and address local housing needs, helping people with strong local connections to continue living and contributing within the places they call home.
As Berkshire’s only county-wide support service for village halls and community buildings, we provide specialist advice and guidance to the volunteers who manage these vital community assets. Through our National Lottery-funded 21st Century Halls programme, we help halls become sustainable, resilient and future-ready by strengthening governance, improving financial sustainability, increasing energy efficiency, and supporting adaptation to changing community needs.
Through our Activating Village Halls project, we work with local providers and village halls to bring inclusive health, fitness and wellbeing activities directly into rural communities, helping more people stay active and connected.
We also tackle fuel poverty through our Affordable Energy work, providing practical support to households struggling with energy and water costs, while helping off-grid residents access affordable fuel through collective buying schemes.
Alongside these services, we champion rural resilience, inclusion and wellbeing by encouraging more equitable access to services and opportunities, particularly for people living in Berkshire’s more remote and dispersed communities.
Learning and skills development are embedded throughout our work. Through a range of training and adult learning opportunities, we help people build the knowledge, confidence and skills they need to support their communities and create lasting local impact.
We are an active member of Action with Communities in Rural England (ACRE) the national body for 38 charitable local development agencies across England.
