For those that are off the gas grid and heat your homes with oil CCB promotes the use of oil clubs to come together with your community and use your bulk purchasing power to reduce the cost of ordering oil, as well as the amount of tankers that are on our roads delivering it.
For those homes that don’t have a local oil club we launched the CCB Oil Club in partnership with Oil Fuel Poverty Scheme (OFPS) in 2012 so that all homes in Berkshire can benefit from group buying.
We asked Marion Lathar from OFPS to highlight the recent trends in oil prices and to discuss the benefits or ordering through an oil club.
Marion: “There has been a recent increase in the price of crude from $48 to $57 in last 3 months as refineries have shut down due to the onslaught of Hurricanes. As a result the prices of heating oil have risen by 5 pence per litre (ppl) in the last 3 months and the trend appears to be continuing. In Winter prices always rise due to increased demand so we always advise our members to fill up their tanks in late summer/autumn and then just top up in winter when absolutely necessary”
“In the last 3 months the CCB Oil club has ordered nearly 50,000 litres of oil, saving members between 3 to 6 ppl against the average price. We take the effort out of ringing round and negotiating for our members whilst harnessing the group negotiating power to maximise discounts.” For further information on the oil club please click here
